The Challenge
The existing website created confusion.
Users struggled to understand what Auckland Foundation actually does and how to engage with it.
Different audiences had different needs. Donors, grant applicants, and professional advisors all required clear and distinct pathways. However, the site did not support these journeys effectively.
As a result, key information was difficult to find.
The website needed to clearly explain the organisation, outline giving options, support grant applications, and showcase community impact.
The Insight
Not-for-profit websites often try to serve everyone at once.
However, users arrive with specific intent.
Donors want to give easily. Applicants want a clear process. Advisors want reliable information.
When these needs are not clearly structured, confusion increases and engagement drops.
The opportunity was to design around user journeys.
When each audience can quickly find what they need, the entire experience improves.
The Strategy
Create a structured, user-led website experience.
We mapped the key audience groups and designed clear pathways for each:
Donors
Grant applicants
Professional advisors
This meant simplifying navigation and organising content around user intent rather than internal structure.
At the same time, we worked closely with the Auckland Foundation team to remove redundant pages and build a clear, logical site map.
The goal was to make the website easier to understand, easier to navigate, and easier to act on.
The Creative system
The website experience is built on clarity, flexibility, and ease of use.
We designed a clean and intuitive interface that supports fast navigation and clear communication. As a result, users can quickly access relevant information.
In addition, we implemented a robust and highly customisable CMS. This allows the Auckland Foundation team to edit, add, and manage content with ease.
Functionality supports key actions across all audiences. Donors can make one-off or recurring contributions, applicants can complete streamlined forms, and advisors can access relevant resources.
Across the site, the system maintains consistency and usability.
As a result, the new website outperforms the previous version in efficiency, customisation, speed, and overall user experience.
Ultimately, the platform turns complexity into clarity.
Because when a website works properly, people do not notice the design. They simply get things done.
